Beware of DUD Ads and Offensive Sound – Gin Rummy Best Card Game Review

Actually, I really like playing this version of Gin Rummy. But, I am probably going to dump it (again) for two reasons. (1) The excessively LOUD sound of many promo ads is really dangerous and damaging to my ears through my Blue Tooth earbuds, used to listen to podcasts while playing the game. Fact: ONE incidence of serious sound damage can cause permanent damage and hearing loss. I cannot risk more hearing loss. (2) Some promo ad Duds give NO way to X out of the ads. Currently (October 2020), there is a very offensive Dud promo ad with a visual image on the first screen, promoting a violent game with a big male thug holding a small female victim at gun/knife point. The image is very disturbing. There is NO way out of the on-screen image without clicking forward to view the next part of the promo ad, which I refuse to do. The only way out of that promo ad visual is to jump to a different game, dump the entire game app, or reboot the device — while trying to listen to a podcast. I just jump to a different game and reboot later. I am likely done with this game. — NOTE: I am writing this review in hopes of getting repairs to this recently FORCED update of my favorite card game app. I didn’t want the update and refused it multiple times. Finally, their previous version became non-functional. In this new version, I have had to reboot three times to continue playing. As stayed, I am likely DONE. Last request: I mute sounds on all my games, so I can listen to podcasts. I should NOT be required to listen to sounds during promo ads. The excessive volume is a danger to my hearing and an interruption to my podcasts. I have even discovered I will actually watch some ads when the sound is low, pleasant music over which I can still hear my podcast The aggressive, loud sounds in most ads just add stress during this pandemic life! We are all multi-tasking. The APP stores should make it possible to mute ALL sounds on ALL games—including the ads. The stores are just as responsible for the hearing damage we are all experiencing—especially our kids. Just wait until the class action lawsuits start to happen. To the App Stores: Make it possible to turn off all sounds on both the games AND the promo ads. This is serious business. Once you lose your hearing, it is gone. To this Gin Rummy game developer: Please fix the duds and the excessive sound, or many of us will be gone. Just like Shania sang: ... “I’m outta heerre.”
