Stupid Me – Stash: Investing made easy Review

A friend referred me to Stash and I signed up thinking that it was a good way to invest. I set up auto Stash and they were taking $5 a week out of my account. I’ve been a customer for about six months and would periodically check my account balance to monitor growth. I checked today to see what was going on and realize how low my balance seemed in relation to the amount that was coming out of my account. What also caught my attention was that my account said that I had $113 in cash and I thought that was strange since the money was being invested. Stupid me I didn’t realize they were charging me a monthly fee and not actually investing my money. They only amount invested was $25. The CSR I spoke to said that since my money was not invested, I had opened three investment accounts and only one was being used, the fee was $9 a month. I was hopping mad. If Stash could select the investments for the first account why couldn’t they do the same for the other two. I told her that I did not know anything about investing and was under the delusion that Stash was auto investing for me. They put the rest of my money into an account and were holding it like a savings account. My monthly “investment” was for $20 and Stash has been paying themselves a fee of $9. Needless to say I requested that the account be closed and my money returned to me. I wouldn’t refer anyone to them.
