Music source – djay - DJ App & AI Mixer Review

With the loss of Spotify as a music source on DJay Pro, I tried several other sources available to find a suitable replacement. None seem to replace Spotify providing comparable selection and sound quality, with Beatsource and their counterpart being the worst. While they did offer the coveted BPM feature, my playlists mapped using the recommended “tune my music” to many unmatched tracks, some even in a different genre that basically rendered the playlists unusable. I was so disenchanted that I gave serious consideration to dumping the app and just keeping Spotify until I tried Tidal. While very pricy, the premium subscription offers comparable sound quality and even higher quality at a higher price. Track selections also match Spotify premium tracks without the BPM feature, but Djay will add that as I play each track in the app over time. More importantly, the playlists mapped to the same track and artist as before. The down side is that I’m now stuck paying for Spotify where I share playlists with family members in addition to the new Tidal 1-user subscription. I still enjoy using the Djay app, but only time will tell if the extra cost is worth it... 3 stars versus the previous 5 for my trouble and expense is all I can muster for now. Maybe Djay will do a little arm twisting and Tidal will add the BPM feature at some point in the near future to redeem my confidence.
