Fun, Quick Playing Card Dueler – Demons vs. Wizards Review

As a simple card battler, this gets the job done. The presentation is very well done, it's fun, fast paced, and very easy to learn. The gameplay is similar to something like Arcomage, where you take pot shots at your opponent using your preconstructed deck of cards, continually depleting their life/shields and buffing your own. I like the luck element this game brings in with coin flips/die rolls determining whether damage occurs and how much. It brings a little excitement to the table. Unfortunately, the game's biggest strength (simplicity) is also it's biggest weakness. There is no deck customization, no new cards to aquire, and no new ways to inject life in the formula. The lack of depth will cause people to burn out quickly on it. The wizard deck and demon deck are also very similar, I assume to maintain balance. I'd love to see some new cards or new decks with different, interesting powers. Also, the game only supports local play and play vs. the AI - this game desperately needs an online component to give it some legs. I think with a little TLC and support from the developer, this could go from a fun little diversion to deeper, yet still accessible, experience.
