Interesting idea plagued by designer poverty – Lair Defense: Dungeon HD Review

This game is pretty. This technology tree idea is interesting. This game is boring unless you spend more money on it because you cannot progress through it without buying more "coins" to keep upgrading your dragon tech. Too bad the designer is so poor. What could have been a great game got turned into a desperate grab for money. I realize that programming is a career choice and that every programmer likes to get paid for his or her efforts but these in app purchases seem to cheapen the experience: Am I supposed to brag to my friends that I won this game in $14? Oh, whoopee. I know I may have to someday join the decade but I miss spending money once and playing for fun, with an even playing field. Once my high score starts to depend on how much money I spend (Garfielding) I lose interest. Too bad. This had possibilities.
