Much better than My Fitness Pal, but still could be improved – Calorie Counter PRO MyNetDiary Review

I primarily got this pro version to track nutrients. The problem with My Fitness Pal is that it does not make nutrition a part of weight loss and many on the site seem to think it’s OK to eat junk food as long as they stay within their calorie goals. I’m the opposite, if something isn’t nutritious, I don’t want to put it in my mouth. I like to keep my calories low and make sure each one counts! I also like the UI a lot better. I’m not giving it 5 stars because I already paid for the pro version and think the premium version is way overpriced. I wish we could get at least a free trial so I could see if it’s worth it! I don’t actually need to lose weight, just some extra vanity pounds, but I want to make sure I’m getting all the nutrition I need, and although the pro version shows you totals, you can’t analyze them to see if anything is lacking or too low. Also, it was driving me crazy because it kept auto correcting a food I was looking for, changing Nutra to nutri and would not let me write Nutra at all. Then I discovered you can turn autocorrect off, but then it turns it off for everything. There should be a way to keep autocorrect on but make changes as needed like with every other normal autocorrect or just let iOS do autocorrect instead of the app. Also I wish it had a light for the barcode scan like MFP. It won’t even let you manually put on your camera light (iPhone) so you always need to be in a brightly lit area to use the barcode scan. I just downloaded it yesterday but so far I really like it except the things I mentioned. They should maybe have different tiers of premium. I don’t need the keto or diabetes stuff. The only thing I want is my nutrition analyzed. If the ability to try a free trial of premium was added, a discount for already having the pro version plus a lower tier of premium, the autocorrect was fixed and a light added to the camera for barcode scanning, then I’d definitely give it 5 stars. Just adding some more quirks that should be fixed. When I put in frozen mango, it graded it as B+ when in fact mango is super healthy, full of vitamins and nutrients! Also, no matter how many times I scanned the Trader Joe’s barcode, it only used outdated information that had been input from an older package and refused to update to the new version. MFP added a new product for this adding “corrected.” MFP’s barcode scanning process is much better. Also it won’t let you create a food unless you know all the ingredients. If you know something is 100 calories but it’s not a prepackaged item and you don’t know all the ingredients, you can’t create it as a regular food. You have to just add it as calories without giving it a name. And certain items like organic cacao nibs, which is actually a superfood, was rated either C+ or A depending on which one you clicked on although they are all the exact same thing. Some counted as candy/sugar which it is not. I’m sure I’ll find more bugs but I still mostly like it better than MFP.
