Needs work – Audiobooks Now Audio Books Review

First of all, buyer beware; you have to buy your books in a browser and not the app to get the advertised prices. If you try to buy them in the app, then they have to pay apple some surcharge, and the price to us is much higher, too. Second of all, the app is completely useless if you need to know the time remaining in a book, or if you need to jump forward or back without dropping everything and picking up your phone and looking at it — or waking up to look at it (many of us listen to audiobooks to rest or sleep) They seem to think that the only thing that matters is the chapter remaining time! (Speaking for myself, if I could only have one, the time remaining in the book is much more important to me) They added a “total time remaining” but it just gives the negative of the elapsed chapter time! If I turned that in, I would get an F. I love the service, and i love that they don’t have all the useless crap that always gets in the way that amazon shoved into the audible app, so audiobooksnow’s interface is much better than amazon’s. But who on earth thought that oversaturated white and red was a good idea? (You could take a page from Hulu’s book; their app redesign when they added live service was almost universally panned for being too glaringly bright and cartoonish and obscuring their actual content, so they redid it. And instead of sticking to the hideous theme colors they had, they shifted them slightly to better versions and used them as accents.) If the “audio book playing” screen had swipe left or right to jump back or forward some number of seconds programmable in settings, and swipe up or down to raise or lower volume, that would add fantastic functionality to the app.
