Not Playing Because I Like It – Sonic Runners Adventure Review

So you know how every sonic fan argues over what the worst sonic game is? Well as someone who defends chronicles and shadow the hedgehog as flawed but enjoyable, I have to say this is the crowned champion of bad. Graphics: I’m the type of guy who doesn’t see PS2 level graphics as an insult and see’s HD as going overboard in an area that isn’t as vital as gameplay and story, but they aren’t even consistent here. Eggman looks okay, but Sonics bloated like he was made in roblox, tails has a painted on smile and Chip looks like a bootleg vector drawing. Gameplay: Enemies blend into the background and appear too fast to react to at times and Some bonus levels are Unwinnable if you happen to go in with the wrong character. I also feel sick playing it like with the gameboy advance port of sonic 1, so there might be a frame-rate problem factoring in here. Story: I didn’t think you could get more out of character than the modern interpretation of shadow as a antisocial jerk, but when Sonic spouts things like “Now I will destroy you Eggman.” And “What will be, will be” I have to double check that I didn’t just fork over 3 dollars for a bad fan game. The fact that I’m playing this just to see if there’s something salvageable from this story is honestly hilarious, since the dialogue is stilted and doesn’t feel like it was written by someone familiar with the characters. So overall yeah. I’d say it’s the worst sonic game, buy it for the novelty or to complete your collection, don’t buy expecting a time killer, fork money into Sonic Dash or Sega Heroes for that, they’re free to start but also actually playable.
