A Great Game That Suffers From Mobile Game Monetization. – Trials Frontier Review

(NOTE: SKIP TO SECOND PARAGRAPH TO AVOID MY STUPID RAMBLING ABOUT ME NOT BEING A GAME CRITIC AND OTHER USELESS CHATTER FUELED BY MY OWN STUPIDITY) Let me state this right off the bat; NO, I am not some prestigious game critic reviewing some random mobile game instead of Doom Eternal, Animal Crossing New Horizons, or other games publicly released in the past week or so of writing this. I’m just a 15 year old male trying to pass the time while waiting for my morning medication to kick in and hide the signs of my autism within the comfort and safety of my bedroom as the world slowly falls apart because some random Chinese guy supposedly ate a bat and set a global pandemic into effect. Ok, now that I've gotten that unnecessary long intro out of the way allow me to actually review trials frontier, as well as provide tips for anyone who wishes to play this game with little to no past knowledge and experience. For a quick(ish) and easy summary, let me just say that this game is INCREDIBLY captivating in it’s lore and gameplay. When it comes to keeping the player interested in the game itself, trials frontier knocks it out of the park! I am not going to spoil much, if anything at all. But I will say that this game does an amazing job at plot. As much of the story is alluded to early on through snippets of dialogue but never truly explained until much farther into the game’s missions. As for the rest of the game, all other aspects still hold up pretty well. Of course, as trials frontier is a mobile game, it contains mountains of purchases that grow ever-more enticing as you progress through the game, especially as much of the purchases seen hold very good rewards for their price tags. But just like any other mobile game, it can still fun without spending any money whatsoever, albeit more difficult. Outside of the purchases and plot, I can’t really think of other things to mention. So i guess I’ll just add some tips below for those who want them. TIP 1: do not spend gems when they are not absolutely necessary, but feel free to if you have beaten the game and don’t need to spend gems on boosts. TIP 2: upgrade your currently preferred vehicle at the start and end of a play session, as the first batch of upgrades will finish as you play and the second batch will complete while you do something else outside of trials frontier, allowing a mother two batches of upgrades to be done at the start and end of the next session TIP 3: once you unlock more bikes, don’t focus solely on the newest one. (One example is when you unlock the first bike outside of the starter bike, the first unlocked bike is much lighter than the starter “armadillo” but is still slower than the armadillo at first. So it is better to use the unlocked bike for stunts rather than the armadillo, but the armadillo can still be used for most races. TIP 4: somewhere around the first twenty minutes you will do quests for a girl addicted to candy, and she will unlock a prize wheel you spin after every race/drive to finish line. She will eventually allow you to raise the chances of a chosen wheel prize for free, do this to increase the odds of getting the prize you want, TIP 4.5: to win often with the prize wheel, put your wanted reward in the arrow’s position and move your finger from the top to the bottom of the wheel in a 180 degree spin. This mostly causes the wheel to end up roughly where the arrow was pointing before spinning. TIP 5: and finally... HAVE FUN!
