Not pay to win, but definitely pay to enjoy – The Arcana: A Mystic Romance Review
I was very excited to play this game.
The art is amazing, the music is fun, characters are fleshed out and each is unique. The aesthetic is lovely- magic mixed with mystery and romance. I can tell a lot of hard work and love went into this game, which is why it pains me to leave a negative review.
The creators continually say this game is not pay to win, but I strongly feel it is a pay to enjoy. The coin system is a joke. When you happen upon a paid option in the game, it’s always a large number of coins (normally around 200-250) which you have to pay over 5$ for. That’s 5$ just to have an option that gets you bare minimum interaction with the character whos route you’re on. You are rewarded 5 coins a day, it would take over a month to save coins for ONE option in a chapter. Insanity. If you choose a response that is not paid, it normally comes off cold or plain skips over any further interaction with a character. So basically you either pay extra to get any sort of intimate time with a character, or you get none at all. Thus, pay to enjoy.
Either make the coins more affordable, award more daily, or lower the cost of coins for interactions.
I wouldn’t recommend game to anyone until something changes with the $$ system.
