Bait and switch? – Boxing Star Review

First downloaded this and loved it. Best phone game I’ve played yet, told lots of friends. 3 weeks in I realized something was fishy with their progress algorithm. You earn stars by winning matches. That’s how you progress in league play. I advanced quickly and did well in game play. I win 9 out of ten matches most the time. But I’d log out for a day sign on and my avatar would have lost a bunch of fights an AI played on my behalf. And I’d have to play just to grind wins to rank up again. Back and forth. Games im actually playing I’d win vast majority (like to think I’m decent at the game) but I’d log off for a week, when I came back I’d have dropped 2 leagues from have lost like 75% of matches the bot played my character as to other players when I was logged off. Functionally a plateau. Feels lame because rest of game is great. But to break that plateau seems I have to pay for things. Great game, sense of progress, but then once you’re ankle deep algorithm loops you till you pay. Not because I’m not good at the game, I win nearly every match I play (which is kind of weird) Developers should create a playing aspect where people can rank with just live players. And not loose rank to loosing to games they never play but a bit does. Create a pool for those signed on, and set up an separate league with that the bot thing if you want. Can’t see a reason to not other than an insidious pay wall incentivized by a stagnate sense of advancement. The game in my book is 5 stars otherwise. Complex mini gaming that effects main game play, customizable, capacious strategy development in fights to your own style. This design flaw though makes me not even want to play this anymore, feels passive aggressive in profiteering. -But a fixable with an update if they want to. Would be a 1 Star if the game itself wasn’t so great and that there’s a chance they will redress this poor business decision.
