no thinking. getting lost in the music one is playing. it’s a meditative state. the easier it is to play, the less thinking one needs to do. less thinking means more feeling, more expression, that’s what playing music is all about. a musical instrument shouldn’t be viewed as something incredibly difficult to master. it is a tool for expression. it can move people. as a multi-instrumentalist for over 15 years, i must say i really dig these “anybody can play” instruments. so easy to get into. try it. maybe you’ll like it. maybe you’ll discover your inner mozart-like qualities. maybe? or at least, relieve a little stress? serenade the ladies. perhaps? just don’t let your phone drop when the beat does.
