Great game headed downhill. – Sea Port: Cargo Ships Harbor Review

I’ve been playing Seaport for well over a year. I’ve loved the core gameplay from the start! The last several months, however, it has been spiraling down a whirlpool... It started when they swapped the daily tasks for the “Job Board”. Most of those jobs required collecting significant amounts of new, warehouse-filling resources a little bit at a time (the destinations for these do not level up), and manufacturing these resources into other warehouse-filling commodities. This could have been interesting, but I quickly learned that it takes so many shiploads of the base production resources to complete most orders that it’s basically impossible to both do jobs and keep your buildings/ships upgraded if you aren’t watching the game like a hawk to give ships new orders the instant they arrive back home (or constantly spend gems). So, I disappointedly stopped working the job board. I must not have been the only one shunning the Job Board, because for a few months now, they’ve been adding competitions to updates that REQUIRE jobs to be completed. I reluctantly participated in the first of these, but it was so horribly frustrating that even my second-place reward wasn’t worth it. Looking at the leaderboard for the current Job Board competition, it appears the majority of players feel this way; only 7 of the 20 people in my group have made any progress at all after 2 full days. Clearly the Job Board and its associated production need some major changes. Whether that will happen, or more and more attempts to force players to use it as is or miss out on things will be added remains to be seen. If it’s the latter, it’s only a matter of time before I take my premium gameplay money elsewhere.
