Unable to access previously paid for issues! – National Geographic Review

I used to have a digital subscription to NG, which I’d had since the app first came out, so I had a lot of issues that I’d purchased. I cancelled my subscription because of the state of the app and not being able to download issues. I just noticed that I now have no access to any of the issues I had purchased. If I attempt to restore my purchases through iTunes, I just get a pop up that I don’t have a current subscription, which I know and asking me to purchase one. How do I get access back to my purchased issues? I emailed customer support a few weeks ago, but got no reply!
