I have mixed feelings about this game. – OVERHIT Review

I like the game, but it feels kind of empty and I’m worried it will get removed from the App Store. Know that I have a bias because I played another Nexion game (MOE), which I really liked, and even made my first ever in-game purchases just because I wanted to “thank” the devs for a game I played 25 days a month. But they shut it down after about a year, and I still had many main story and side quest missions to play. Like that game, this one has a campaign, and strategic combat. The developers regularly release new gatcha heroes and 5 character backstory missions, however the main campaign hasn’t been updated since launch. After about two weeks of playing the campaign, the only thing left to do is the very slow endgame of gambling for duplicate copies of your most rare heroes. Gameplay is pretty straightforward. There is a bit of strategy in the setup before battles, and some more with really hard battles, but the main gameplay isn’t all that engaging or tactical, and it can play itself to the point where I wish there was a 4x speed option, or an option to burn through your daily energy all at once instead of draining the phone. M.O.E. had such an option, but this game I have to put on auto and wait over an hour for it to grind through the repetitive battles. I do like the bi-monthly events and updates with new characters, and there have been a few major balancing changes to improve the PvP experience. The game is also fairly generous with its in-game premium currency, used to buy more (hopefully copies of) heroes, but as with any game of chance where the rewards are your gameplay tools, paying more gives you a better chance at a stronger team to win in PvP and the most rewarding tasks in the game. It is somewhat a fun game, it’s just that even with monthly updates it doesn’t have the same depth and character backstories as M.O.E. did, and less reasons to come back. I regularly have to prune my in-game friend’s list of people who have abandoned the game, and when I go to add new players I sometimes see the same names come back up. I’d like for the main quest to be completed.
