Something Missing – SocialSpeech: Speech-to-Text and Voice Recognition for Facebook Status Updates and Twitter Tweets Review

This app reads the Facbook feed in several different accents very well. The Design is minimalist. When it's doing so you can't see anything else on screen. It doesn't display pictures, it doesn't make links accessible to you, it doesn't allow you to search Facebook or like anything and it doesn't multitask. When the screen is locked or you navigate away from the app the sound stops as well. Once you've opened the app and logged in you can't change to a different Facebook account. And while its reading you are always looking at a loading screen for the iSpeech engine that powers the app. Tweet Speaker is much better at offing more than just reading the twitter feed, more robotic in sound with only a male voice to choose from. So for an app that allows you to not look at your phone it forces the screen to be active for no reason and drains the battery. For lack of any alternatives it's worth $0.99 if you have a long commute to listen to your feed.
