Best Diabetes tool ever! – RapidCalc Diabetes Manager Review

Sharon Leitner's review needs some correction from a very satisfied user of RapidCalc for over a year now. Sharon talks about the dose suggested when her daughter decides to eat a dessert 20 minutes after her main meal. This is covered in the help section in at least two places. In that situation it would be unusual to test your BGL again so tick the Blood Glucose not measured box and your dose will be correctly calculated. Reading the help file is always a good idea. There is also a FAQ section on the RapidCalc website. The help section also talks about following your doctor's advice and her doctor has told her not to correct for a BG of under 120. I am not sure then why she would try and do so although her suggestion of a dose range is a good one. I would suggest that she sets her BG targets at the mid point of the range where she wants her daughter's BG to be - this is what I do and have never had a problem. Sharon also talks about entering her daughters BG figures after her daughter's weekend away. I don't think that this is the way the app is intended to be used as the value will be in calculating the insulin dose at the time you give it, not afterwards. Perhaps there is a reason why changes to the entries are limited - maybe accuracy of dose calculations is the reason. My advice is if you want the best results use the app as intended not as a BG diary and the problem of editing will never be a major issue. I have used RapidCalc for more than a year now with great results - no major hypos and a reduction in my A1c,but I did read the help file first and found it really useful....
