Powerful intuitive wish easy customization of layout – Mixing Station Review

This is an amazing app. I used the Behringer app for the X32 for a couple of years, which worked fairly well. It was a bit of a pain having to switch screens frequently—with only 8 channels per screen and various other controls spread over several screens. The customizable layout of Mixing Station lets me take full advantage of the large display area on my 12.9 inch iPad Pro. I have 16 input channels on my screen at once—in addition to the main LR output. I could probably fit 24 or perhaps even 32. There are two levels of customization of the layout. First, you can customize a “layer” by specifying how many channel strips appear on the screen at once and which channel strip elements appear on each channel strip (e.g., EQ, gates, compression, meters, solo buttons). Second, you can easily create individual buttons etc., on your own custom layout. You can save multiple custom layers and layouts. It’s very easy to create both. The behavior of taps, double taps, tap-hold, etc., is customizable for various controls. It’s amazing how much functionality of the console can be controlled by the app. The app also has some features that go beyond the console, such as the ability to automatically reduce the Aux Send volumes (and optionally, the main volume and/or compressor threshold) when the gain is increased. I’ve been using it about 6 months with an X32 console and an Apple WiFi Express router; and it has been rock steady. There have been two or three times where the faders did not respond for about 15 seconds; but that could easily be the router.
