Great except for graphics … Plays well with iPad ... – Legion of the Damned Review

This one is made for the iPhone. Me … I play all my games on the iPad so I was hesitant in buying this one from the very start. But I must say, even when on the 2x iPad zoom the graphics are still clear, useful and functional. Admittedly if they update to iPad resolutions, I would have rated this one 5 stars, but as it is, I am taking off one star for the graphics. Sorry Offworld Games, but you need to begin doing universal builds, your revenues will thank you. Anyway … Back to the game … This is a turn-based strategy game down to the unit level. The UI is very well done with the HUD being on the left and only when needed. A nice touch. Here is one case where the iPhone design is an advantage for playing on the iPad whereas the designer was considerate of the limited screen space on the iPhone, so they use the edges very well and this translates very nicely to the iPad's larger display. Anyway … UI get a 10 out of 10 … Something that Ravenmark totally failed at. The tutorial is excellent (even has a Final Exam and a full text rules file via the Help button) … although experienced grognards will find the tutorials boring. Still a 10 out of 10 for tutorial and game info being readily available at a touch. Weapon range, indirect fire targeting, movement, and more … I like a game where you can "recon by fire" and this one allows you to clear mines as well as blow up the bad guys with indirect fire. All the calcs are done for you, to include line of sight, fog of war and "spotted" enemy units for max damage allowing you to concentrate on your tactics and strategy. You have the typical "Campaign" and "Skirmish" selections … And there's even a map editor included! A game save feature would be nice also. I know most skirmishes / battle don't take that long, but we need a game save feature. Bottomline, well worth the price of admission, and I'm hoping for a universal build that takes advantage of the iPad graphics, which is going to cost them a star. I will return and change this to 5 stars, if this is corrected. Robert9001
