Organize, prioritize, accomplish & track progress – Be Focused Pro - Focus Timer Review

As a college student, I have a lot of assignments due, small background tasks that aid in completing assignments, and important school dates (like enrollment, course selections, comparing professors, applying for grants, etc.) that require a very simple way to organize and prioritize the tasks. This app also has two simplistic data displays of how you spend your time: a weekly bar chart of time and a pie chart based on specific tasks. Pros: - I like that there’s just 3 screens to this app (it does NOT over complicate things): The clock, the list, and the data results. - I like that it doesn’t prohibit the emoji keyboard of your phone or laptop so that when you’re listing your tasks/goals you can incorporate those small visuals (???✏️???? etc.) - I like that you can customize your time frame with “intervals” and “breaks.” Studies show that optimal performance is done in a work for 30min, break for 5min, then repeat till it’s accomplished. So you can customize all of that very easily in the settings menu. Everything is labeled, it’s very straight forward, there’s little room for confusion. - By far, one of my favorites of this app is it’s remarkable syncing feature. I use my iPhone and Macbook daily, and the app syncs perfectly down to the exact second on the timer ⏲. To enable that feature you’ll need to create a quick account using your email ? so that the data gets transferred from both devices. Any changes made one device (phone), immediately updates the other (laptop). It’s flawless! The laptop app gets a convenient spot at the top of your main toolbar to see the timer’s status. You can and easily click the timer and down pops your list of tasks that you can then check off or rearrange. - I love that you can press and drag an item up or down the list so as to organize or prioritize the tasks in the order you’d like; so no need to think hard before typing each task in any particular order because you can slide and reorder them all day long. There’s room for improvements: - Once you’ve added a task, you cannot edit the name of it. This is a small inconvenience, of course. Say you mislabeled something or spelled it wrong and you’re a perfectionist that didn’t do a double check before pressing “done” and you added the task to the list, you’ll need to delete that task and then add in a new one. Why is that even a big deal? Well, say you began timing yourself on the task and there was significant data to track your progress, then all of that gets deleted, too. It’s like playing a video game ?, reaching level 10, realizing the player’s name is misspelled, and then having to forfeit all your hard work if you want it spelled correctly. ? Basically, triple-check your spelling and word choices BEFORE adding it to the list, there’s no editing afterwards. - It’s 2019, why is there no theme selection? (Even in the purchased version.) If you’re not into a pink/coral color, then this app can quickly become annoying to view. There’s no nighttime or daytime type theme, no “skin color” changing available. - For anyone who isn’t very tech-savy ?, this app has the potential to frustrate you for the first few minutes as you figure out how everything works on your own. There’s no guide. You’ll just have to play around with its buttons to familiarize yourself with what they do. Besides, most of us “skip” the guides/tutorials/tours anyways and end up experimenting on our own in the end. So, meh.
