Not Bad but not 'Pro' – PHP Pro Quick Guide Review

Interface is alright, the left side is a simple slide list of all functions the author chose to include (not up to date with PHP 5 at all) The functions are ordered alphabetically by category, but what has to be the worst decision is the categories neither start out collapsed nor are they collapsible! So good luck finding a function if you can't remember a portion of the name, because the search bar won't help you either. Search is limited to the function names categorized and only filters the left side index, so if you are searching for something in the content, you will not find it using the search box. For instance, try to search for 'extension' which shows up in several articles, clears the left side filter at 'exten'. Without knowing at least a portion of the exact function name you are searching for (category headings are not included in search), the search bar is of extremely limited use. Has zero to no PHP OO concepts, functions, commands and SPL definitions, at least I haven't seen one in the past 3 weeks I've tried to find something in this app. Even functions added as far back as PHP 4.0.5 (that's over 8 years ago) are not documented. Operators like clone and instanceof are not covered. Nothing in the current Class/Object Information function section of php.net is included. If you code OO PHP with a recent PHP 5 framework, this app will have limited use. Basically this app is a modest rip of the PHP.net documentation circa 2003. If you are already PHP Professional, avoid this app. If you are a novice and have 99 cents to blow, go for it; the interface isn't horrible, and the content for what functions are there appears to be accurate. To the developer I would advise upgrading the content to at least 2010 online documentation and update both the search and sidebar index functionality for a REAL Pro version and relegate this edition to a freebie.
