Free but I wouldn’t pay for it. – Skoove: Learn to Play Piano Review

I have a free premium trial of three months. I’m not impressed with the lessons and teaching style. There is one great section on sight reading for the right hand which was very well done. You learn the notes and how to read them and which hand to use and where they are on the keyboard. But there is nothing like that for the left hand or the bass clef. After that It’s just endless lessons where you learn snippets of music. Unfortunately this makes it very jumbled because there isn’t a formal teaching for the left hand. Additionally because the left is most often the weaker hand they have no focused sections for just strengthening the left hand coordination. it would be better to have at least one lesson on sight reading for the left hand so I can get it as well as the right hand. It is free but after a week of going through it it’s getting boring learning endless snippets of pieces which don’t really teach you very well what’s going on. It needs more formal music theory instruction like the ONE section on sight reading would be a big improvement. I.e. Why isn’t there sight reading part 2, part 3 and part 4? Or how to read all the notes other than the 5 they do in the sight reading section in the treble clef? I’m glad I’m also attending an in person piano class as this app really doesn’t tie it all together.
