Mostly Recycled Content – Walk Master Review

The game description claims to have “new levels regularly,“ but how can that be when levels are just procedurally generated sequences of the same old sets of obstacles? it starts off introducing new obstacles here and there, but eventually it runs out. The game sneakily won’t say anywhere how many levels are in the game total, because there is no set number of levels. I am past level 370, and another reviewer apparently got past level 800, with still no end in sight, and long past any challenge levels or original content. I think it would have been fine to have a main campaign with all original content, and then once that runs out, offer some sort of randomly-generated endless mode. But trying to pass off entirely recycled content as new levels, and the lack of transparency about it, is what bothers me. Other than that, the game is actually quite fun, but stops being challenging after a while, without any real increase in difficulty. And one issue I’ve noticed is that sometimes it seems impossible to pass a section due to timing, like platforms not meeting together when they need to, but once you fail and start over, the timing is suddenly corrected. Players shouldn’t be required to fail in order to pass a section.
