Love, love this game! However... – The Arcana: A Mystic Romance Review

I love, love, love this game! I’ve finished Asra and Julian’s routes and am impatiently waiting for the next chapters in Muriel and Lucio’s routes, but I’ll go back through Asra and Julian so I can collect all the gallery pics (plus why the heck not?! >////<). HOWEVER, I do have a few beefs with the game in regards to $$$: First, the daily log in of 5 coins is 35 coins a week. The least expensive “bold” option I’ve seen is 75 coins. That’s a day over 3 weeks logging in every single day for a single “bold” option. The highest paid option I’ve seen is 275 coins (maybe there’s higher, I don’t remember) and that’s almost 8 weeks logging in every day. If you’re like me, you just pay money because you’re impatient and too engrossed in the story, but then you’re disappointed because the juicy romantic stuff that should’ve happened because you paid $5.99 for extra coins lasts 2-3 taps. Suggestions: Please consider either drawing out the romances or upping the daily reward coins day by day (someone suggested by 5 or 3 or really anything and I think that’s brilliant). Also, please consider making the coin purchases worth the bucks. Example: it’s $5.99 to get 250 coins. That’s one higher-ranked “bold” option. Paying $5.99 isn’t terrible... if it’s once every 3-4 volume or something, but when it’s EVERY volume (not to mention up to 3 sub chapters of each volume), that starts racking up a pretty penny. Better yet, why not have a flat fee to unlock all the “bold” options in each story? I’d happily pay $15-20 to unlock all the “bold” choices instead of racking up $50+ for coins that get me almost nowhere. Second, once you’ve used up all 3 keys, it takes 8 hours PER KEY to refill. That is totally ridiculous and honestly excessive. I don’t mind the amount to pay for refills, but the refill timeframe is silly. Suggestion: Why not 8 hours to refill all 3 keys? That would be waaaaay better. I would find it a lot more enjoyable if the keys refilled more quickly, say like one every 2.5 hours or something, that’s 3 keys in 8 hours instead of playing one chapter every 8 hours, if you even play at all. Third, when you spin you get trinkets. The trinkets are in your storage and when you go to the storage page and click on one, you have the option to buy it for 25-50 coins. Um, why would I pay coins for something that I just spun? What purpose does purchasing it have? And if you have doubles+ of a trinket, there’s an extra reason why you wouldn’t waste coins on buying it. What does it do? Sit there? “Congrats you wasted 1-2 weeks of daily-log-in-play-time to have this... it doesn’t do anything, but good for you!” ............. 0–0 .... no, I don’t think so. Suggestion: Collecting one of each trinket unlocks a special scene right? But what if you have more than one trinket? Why not offer to “sell” it at the 25-50 coins you’d buy it for? Then players get coins to play the routes and there’s the extra incentive to play the wheel (which I usually forget about). Win-win. All in all, I really love the Arcana and I really love the characters—except the courtiers because creepy—I just wish that there was a different/more efficient system with how money is won and bought inside the game.
