Pristine swipe controls – TETRIS® Review

Let me start out by saying this is the first real version of Tetris I really played that started me on my path to hardcore play! It’s been on my devices for almost 4 years now, and it’s the go-to when I don’t have a handheld with me! Probably my most favorite feature of this game is it’s swipe controls! It’s one of the first editions to really pioneer this control scheme, and while it’s not the dominant mode (as with subsequent Tetris mobile games), I would argue to say that it’s the BEST method of controlling on mobile to date. “Smart” I think works well for competitive versions of Tetris, but swipe (specifically this implementation) works incredibly well because of how fluid it is when detecting your finger. This is in contrast every future Mobile tetris games where swipe feels... rugged? It’s a little hard to explain, but when you play on other titles, your movements feel like they need to be more precise. For reference, Swipe in this title is incredible; in my own play-throughs, it’s taken me 10 levels higher than the smart controls! I tend to top out much sooner with “smart” due to the reaction time actually being narrower. Aaanyway, no idea if anyone will read this, but TLDR I’m a major fan of this game and it’s implementation of “swipe”. It just feels right. I’m aware that this app’s codebase is old at this point, but it’s one of my favorite versions of Tetris to date. If you’re reading this Tetris company / EA... YOUR AWESOME!
