play the game! it’s free!! – Fire Emblem Heroes Review

hello! i am a f2p player who has been seriously surprised by this game. i tend to avoid gacha games because im not very lucky, but this game is very kind on its fans and f2p players. i’ve been playing this game since my fe-obsessed friends got me hooked onto it near its release date. the game starts out giving you two free five stars for your team, which is soon going to raise! the game hosts huge voting sessions where you can vote for a character to get an alt 5 star version, then the top 2 of each gender are picked. if you didnt have the game during this time, the game lets you choose when you start the game! this is incredibly kind and makes me super happy. also, getting characters in this game is super fair. while you wont always get who you want, (recently, i really wanted the summer robin but got tiki instead; that doesnt matter to me so much because i know how to accept things; it happens to everyone) this game has a rotation system where characters who used to be summonable as 5 stars are booted to 4 stars, keeping the 5 star slots fresh and the characters you need to merge higher in chance to get. since silas has been booted, i’ve gotten him much more now! when it comes to merging, its super nice and satisfying. you use hero feathers (super easy to get, i’ll explain this) to raise star levels, 2,000 for 4 star and 20,000 for 5 star. it may sound intimidating, but it’s actually not a lot. all of those 3 stars you’ve been collecting? you can send them home (deletes them) for hero feathers, so your summon wasn’t a waste. you also get 3,000 feathers for playing arena once! this resets after 1 season, which is a week. depending on how good you did, you’ll get extra feathers (usually 1,000-2,000) on every section of arena, which means about 3,000+(1,000*3) if you play a fair amount in the modes. overall, very nice! getting “useless” characters is pretty much impossible. while i much prefer getting a 5 star over a 3 star (2s and 1s are impossible unless you play the extra maps and get them for free) the 3 stars are still useful. those characters, like 3 star lon’qu, have good abilities that i can give to my good characters! it means getting “bad” characters can in reality be very useful. the story mode is very nice as well! i didnt like the story so much for book 2 but the characters in it (hríd pretty much) carried it. after pulling a surtr from the recent event (which gave you an extra free summon every day!) i think i’ll like it much more. plus, book one (where i love veronica) is great, and the recent book three is VERY great! i absolutely love líf! the story writing has recently gotten so much better, tranforming the good main story that i played for orbs mostly to an incredible main story that i play to play, with orbs as a bonus. the only thing to improve in the future would be bots. they’re very easy to trick (which is great for getting orbs) but sadly this isnt a good thing in aether raids where i often see my characters being played very awfully against the opposing team. luckily i can challenge those who beat me and get my lift back (if i lost any from the loss) but if the bots were much smarter i wouldnt have to waste time refighting. though this is my only complaint and really this isnt much of a problem anyway. yes, the meta is very controlled but since getting those precious surtrs and myrrhs are difficult, a +10 lower tier thats effective against their types can be very useful in such a situation. all in all, this game is incredible. the creators obviously love their fanbase and listen to what we say. to a potential player reading this, play the game! to the creators, thank you!
