Great music, ok app, sketchy company with horrible (no) customer service or support. – DI.FM - Electronic Music Radio Review

Oh, DI, where do I begin? Way back when raves were still a thing, DI was a staple of mine. At house parties or afterparties, if no one brought decks and records, we’d put DI on a computer and be happy to have it. Several years ago, DI quit working in iTunes. I assumed that they’d gone out of business, lamented, built up my podcast inventory, eventually subscribed to Apple Music, and moved on. But obviously they’re still around; under new ownership, I guess, who don’t want to play nicely with others. Whatever. iTunes’ upcoming retirement is long overdue anyway. And since the app is CarPlay compatible, I decided to give it a shot. The music is just as good as I remember; perhaps even better. They still play separate genres of dance music, versus the generic “EDM” of EDC and the other festivals which have replaced raves. And that alone is a godsend. The app itself... it’s okay. It’s not as good or as polished as Apple Music or Spotify but it gets the job done. Two problems, both on the CarPlay side: 1) It doesn’t buffer aggressively enough and passing from cell to cell on the freeway will often cause the music to cut out. 2) CarPlay functions are minimal. You only get to play stations you’ve favorited in the app beforehand. Nevertheless, i was ready to pay for a subscription. BUT: False advertising. They advertise a $96 $4/month 2-year premium subscription. With my free trial near the end, I went looking to buy it. And nowhere is it available to purchase. I can convert from the trial to a 1-year or cancel entirely. And that 1-year subscription? In reality, they’re charging $10 more for it than their advertised price. In short, every price & plan they advertise is a LIE. I tried contacting DI for help, once in the app, once via their website, and once on their Twitter. I was ignored all three times. No assistance in buying the plan they claim to sell; not even a: “Sorry, we don’t offer that plan anymore. Bob just forgot to update the website.” At this point, I can only conclude that the advertised pricing is a bait & scam. Well, I’m not this minute’s sucker.
