Fun for 2/3 of the game – Fold the World Review

The first 40 levels are simple, but not super easy: you simply are trying to get from Point A to Point B, which, even with only one path to take in each level, is easier said than done. In the final 20 levels, though, they add a switch and gate mechanic that not only makes the game frustratingly hard, but also makes the set of levels feel out of place with the rest of the game, because it changes the entire strategy of the game (namely, it adds the need for previously unnecessary and impossible backtracking). The switch mechanics are also awfully buggy, and the hint system doesn't even take it into account, making me feel like it was just thrown in without any real care. Two out of three isn't terrible, but, with only 60 levels in total, one would think EACH level would be carefully thought out and tested, not just 2/3 of them. I genuinely feel sorry for the people that bought the final levels with real money (I personally grinded up enough gems with the ads). Minor update: I thought on my review and decided to deduct a star, bringing my score to 2/5 stars. Why? Because this game hasn't received a single update since December 2015 (as of this update, over 3 years ago), not even to remove the holiday aesthetic. This game, despite having the potential to be something absolutely amazing and even a cash cow, has been abandoned and left to die. This is despite the owners still milking the game dry. This is despite Crazy Labs proudly displaying Yolo on their app store page as one of their mascots. This is despite them almost certainly making more than enough money to fix the game and add more levels, or even just remove the outdated holiday aesthetic! A moment of silence for Fold the World...
