Very Rude Customer Service for an Overpriced App – CogniFit - Brain Training Review

Frustrating and extreme rude customer service!! I was looking for a brain training app, with at least some science supporting it, which may help with Parkinson’s and other neurological symptoms. I sampled this app. The graphics are not very good in the 3 games you can try for free. The pictures are tiny, and the colors used are very similar, making it harder to see the items. Even though I wasn’t terribly impressed with the sample games, I wanted to try their other games anyway. It seems they had a little more variety than their 2 main competitors. I started receiving emails from the company offering a 40% discount on subscriptions. I attempted to use the discount to sign up. I went to the website, and was automatically redirected to the app. I tried Safari, Google, and Firefox browsers to see if it made a difference. It didn’t. Within the app, there is no way to apply the discount code. I contacted CogniFit customer service and chatted with a rep. I explained what was happening. I was told the discount codes are only useable on the website, which can only be accessed with a computer. I told her I don’t own a computer, I am also disabled and home bound. She told me to ask a family member to sign up for me through their computer. I replied this was not an option. She then said I should go to a coffee house or library. She said “it is EASY for anyone to get on a computer.” I mentioned again I am disabled and home bound and it’s not easy for me to go anywhere. After a few more insulting comments from her, and her flippant, condescending and unprofessional attitude; I told her I will be deleting the app, unsubscribing from their mailing list, and reporting this horrible customer service. This is so upsetting, especially coming from a company who’s prime customers are people with neurological issues such as Parkinson’s, post-stroke, etc. Many of us are now disabled. I was able to use a discount code through their most well know competitor (whose app I’ve been using for years) with no problem. If CogniFit can’t manage to make their own discount code work through their app, it makes me wonder about the quality of the app anyway. If the discount isn’t available through their app, fine. But to be insulted is not fine.
