Your choices matter – Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven Review

I’ve been playing this game for about 3 months now. How does a written path game get so much game time to it? Extreme, and I mean Extreme replayability. And I’m one of those people who scoff at people who mention that. Unlike the first game, your character is 100% up to you to customize. Everything from the job to the abilities, you can choose to be a teenager, college student (assumed to be about 21ish) or just normal adult (with no defined age sadly but no real issue) you can pick from over a dozen professions, and if those don’t fit for you, you can make your own with over around 25+ descriptions (these help pick where you will start). Skill levels rely on your stats + how many points you shove into each skill (I don’t know the formula) having different stats will change the lvls you will jump per point on skills, so experimenting to find the right stats for you is crucial. Now if I was to judge this as the free app in the App Store, it would barely get 1 star. The job starts are what the free 1st chapter is, and it is barely interesting as alone. So you are not going to get an awesome free choose your own adventure game, sorry to disappoint you. The game is pretty reasonable though, it is, if I remember right, 3.99 for part 1, which covers your stay at home, part 2 is 4.99, and covers the real survival story starting. Now part 2, I should warn now. It is pretty cool, do not get me wrong, but where it leaves off is not complete, let alone satisfying. However the author, Dattilo, is working on a ‘part 2-2’ which sounds like it will double or triple the content that was first originally released. At the time of this review, it has been stated that it should be released in a month or 3 at the latest. If you join the group for the zombie exodus series, you can hear about some of the planned content, which sounds awesome. Just don’t hold your hopes down for a part 3. Part 3’s release is stated for 2020, so once part 2-2 is released, that will be the whole of the game for a year, year and a half, which Dattilo writes the rest of the part. So to state again, so long as you remember this is NOT a free to play game, and remember much more content is planned for the current two parts, you will definitely enjoy your time in Safe Haven. This game is free morals essentially. Do whatever you like and have fun :)
