Where's the manual? – LiveRider Review

I imagine that some of the 1-star reviews are also due to not reading the part on the FREE app that says you need the hardware in order to use the app. DUH! But I'm also wondering if some of the poor rating for this app are due to the near total lack of information available on how to use it. There is a brief and mostly incomplete set of instructions on how to connect the hardware ($99) that you must have for this app to work. If your bike doesn't fit the hardware there's no instructions to help. I knew my bike would be problematic with the cadence magnets but I finally got it to work despite the unhelpful instructions that "if needed, use the included spacer" with no instructions how to do that. There are also no instructions to tell you that it may take up to 5 minutes for the sensor to sync with software the first time. Finally, there are no instructions to tell you how to use the chase/pace feature. It's all trial and error. Extremely frustrating! All that said, as the previous reviewer noted "It does what it claims." Very fun to see all the things it's keeping track of while you ride and it saves all the rides so you can view them later. I've ridden around 150 miles using this device and, once I got everything working, it has performed beautifully. Also, it uses very little battery power. Since I have an iPod touch I can't speak to how the map feature works (no GPS you know). I wasn't aware of the lack of a hole for the headset in the cradle until reading the other review and, again, this is something not covered by any manual but that person was smart enough to modified it. Still, I would recommend this app and the hardware for anyone who wants to add to their biking experience. So, note to New Potato -- it's not "RTFM" here, it's "Where'sTFM." With a manual to help, this would be a 5-star rating.
