I need help to understand it – Emphasis: Flow & Focus Timer Review

Hi. I bought this app but I’m not able to understand its workflow. I set the timer, but I don’t receive any notification or sound when the timer is running in the background. Is it necessary to keep this app on top of the rest apps open in my phone?
