Good game, but iffy iPad implementation – Enigmo Deluxe Review

I've enjoyed Enigmo for the Macintosh, and looked forward to playing it on the iPad. It's an excellent game, and it seems just the kind of game that will benefit from a touch-screen implementation. Unfortunately, the present implementation is a study in frustration. To solve the puzzles, you have to make very precise adjustments to the placement (both angle and location) of the tools, and the response of the program to the needed gestures is just too skittish. I find myself forever rotating a tool when I want to move it, and vice versa; moving the playfield when I want to move a tool; and activating a nearby tool instead of the one I want. This ought to be a solvable problem, needing only more play-testing to fine-tune the gesture response. I expect that a future release will be better, but for now I suggest you wait--it's hard enough to solve the puzzles when you don't have to struggle to put something where you want it, and with the struggle you might be tempted to give up on a very good game.
