Pathetic Showing! – PuppetShow: Arrogance Effect Review

BF is "effecting arrogance" in pushing me deeper into hidden-object withdrawal by releasing this "box-office flop"! NOTE — Based on the free trial only: After anxiously waiting a week for a new and exciting release — due to the trending pattern of being denied a second game in a week — any hopes I had were abruptly quashed, as it became transparent that I'd be waiting another few days until the next release. The short demo failed to impress me, and even out of sheer boredom, it couldn't convince me that there might be something worthy enough to purchase the game and carry on. The storyline regurgitates the rehashed theme of.........well, you know, saving a loved one from the usual evil whatever. The visuals and the production were the only highlights in the demo. The graphics are beautifully rendered, with finely sharp and clear details. I didn't play long enough to discern how well the puppets were integrated into the storyline. The little helper, whom I named "Alice," by the way, was cute; however, I could tell that her reedy voice would eventually start getting on my nerves. To me, the gameplay is the most important part of a game. Unfortunately, in this free trial, the gameplay was the weakest part — no originality, no stimulation, no mental challenge. Just....so.....boring. The HOSs were sorely lacking creative elements, comprising mostly mundane word lists. And, the puzzles? They are obviously geared towards juveniles; seriously, trace the path? See Jane run? I only found about two or three musical notes in the few scenes I explored, so I can't remark about the collectibles. Transition was clunky and slow, as were the responses to my touch input, especially during both inventory application and access of interactive areas. Furthermore, when tapping around the lower areas within the HOSs, I was constantly taken out of the scene. Every aspect of this game screams "outdated!" I concluded from the free trial that this game had nothing going for it. This series keeps on worsening as it progresses, and hence the time to end the series for good. I rate this game two thumbs down, a round of "Boos!" and a walk-out. The final verdict, please: Delete!
