This is how phones games should be – Tennis Champs Returns Review

I love everything about this app, the retro graphics, the ease of the controls and lack of ads (with a very reasonable option to go ad free for 1.99). The game is really fun and while it’s easy to pick up on it can be difficult at higher levels. Difficult but by no means frustrating. Leveling up your player is a matter of winning and leveling up which is a matter of choosing the appropriate tournaments for you; if you select tournaments with higher point rewards you’re going to have more difficult opponents which is essentially how it is in real life. The game’s replay value is among the best I’ve seen as every opponent is slightly different and the touch tennis mode and daily challenges keep it more varied and allow for additional skill points and clothing rewards. The no-ad version of the game is a reasonable 1.99 (not 100% on that but it wasn’t much) and leveling up without paying a cent more is very do-able. To me, this app is a great example of how all phone games should be. It’s not pay to win and for a small price you can get rid of ads. On top of that, the game isn’t impossibly hard and it doesn’t feel like a money grab like many games out there do. Someone mentioned varying difficulty during matches but I haven’t seen that at all and I’ve played a lot. If anything, the game reminds you that if you let your guard down or relax you could get punished for it. That’s why in love the game is that it’s totally fair and they aren’t trying to squeeze you for every dollar. Every other game app designer should take notes. This game is worth every penny (which isn’t much) for an ad-free, very deep, challenging but fair and high replayability game that you’ll spend countless hours on.
