Manipulative/misleading in-app Rating Feature – SKOUT DEALS Review

Would probably have given this app a higher rating based on overall function, but as a rule I think any app with the following in-app “rate app” feature deserves one star by default, to counterbalance any skewing from this feature: The “rate app” feature on settings currently -only- takes you to the App Store to rate the app if you toggle 4 or 5 stars in the in-app rating; if you select 1, 2, or 3 stars you are instead prompted to provide feedback directly to the developers. This is, in my opinion, an abuse of the ratings system; I don’t care enough about it to contact the App Store, since I doubt they’d do anything anyway, but I’d encourage anyone else who thinks that that is not a good practice for a developer to rate this app as “1 star” to indicate that that kind of design for an in-app “rate app” feature should be unacceptable. Developers, this may have just been poorly thought through: please consider changing how the in-app rating feature works, either encouraging users to rate their experience no matter the star level they indicate, or please consider removing the feature altogether.
