“Will be back in a moment” ... – WWLP 22News – Springfield MA Review

Sooooo, it’s indeed very frustrating when I receive a hyped-up news alert on my cell phone, only to rush to your news source on your new app, expecting to find this extremely important story there waiting for me, and instead am shown a blank blue logo screen telling me to WAIT for it ( ...and for who knows how long???) And so what started off being of serious interest to me, as something your station clearly suggested was vitally important for me to know immediately, suddenly then becomes a totally annoying waste of time , as the news is not readily available, during my very busy work day. So instead I then need to go elsewhere to find out just what is going on, rather than possibly ending up having to sit and wait for it until it’s then pretty much “old news”... not sure how long that wait generally takes or exactly why this always happens, since I’m long gone immediately! Please find a way around this, by perhaps offering customers the option to actually read what’s vital in that “important news story” IN PRINT instead, at the exact time your station notifies us of something perhaps catastrophic... In my opinion, I’d much rather even wait a few minutes to receive your news notifications through your app, until your station is actually ready to broadcast your video, when the most important particulars we are all looking to know are immediately available to inform us. And sadly, by not having your “breaking news information” readily in place for us at the very moment you send out your notifications, you are often forcing those who feel like I do, to look for our most important “immediate local news” elsewhere... and for sure that’s not your intended outcome! And as a side note, another suggestion that might be helpful is to come up with some sort of easily recognizable “scale of importance” for these numerous notifications ... one that could in some way “rate” for us, all these continual news alerts by exactly which are “earth shattering, life or death stories we really really need to be aware of that split second” versus the less urgent news we could choose to read after, such as about a fender bender with no injuries, or exactly what went on at a school committee meeting, for example... unarguably both important to some in their own way, though not what all customers need to focus on first in your notification lineup, and at that exact moment. A rating system could definitely help sort out what is happening that’s highly important for every customer to be informed of, first and foremost, and could possibly change how overwhelming this notification service can often become. Thanks very much for asking for customer input, and allowing us the chance to voice concerns and offer new ideas to be considered, in order to smooth out the process of keeping us all well-informed.
