I bought this to drown out noises you typically are forced to deal with in apartment living. Always helps me fall asleep quickly. By focusing on the sound I've chosen I'm able to let go of the busy day and not anticipate the next crazy one to come. I also like that you can set the timer. I typically run the app for a few hours, which helps me to remain asleep. Have used the app for two years and am quite pleased.
