Needs work... – Racing Mania Review

I have been waiting for this one for a while. I am a bit let down by what I have played. The gameplay is OK, it could use a little bit of work, tightening things down a bit. One of my biggest complaints is the lack of motor noise. I turned off the music and the vehicles make no sound! Sure, you hear when they bump into each other (that could use a better set of sound samples as well). Hearing no motor is sad. You also can't leave the road to go flying into a pond or obstacles, this feels limiting. I commend Dracoders for making very pretty looking vehicles in the menu screen, but in game the lose a lot of quality. I do like the fact that they are 3D, but the rest of the world is 2D (not even 2.5). There are a few games on the way that have full 3D top down racing (you know what they are if you follow this stuff!) 5 stars is not out of the question here. With some fixes, we could get this game up there: - Engine noise, skid sounds when accel and cornering, etc. - Better controls - 3D (instead of recreating tracks, maybe throw in some 3D objects) - Better looking vehicle graphics 'In-Game' - allow for vertical AND HORIZONTAL gameplay It's hard to recommend this in it's current state, especially when you see some games on the way. It breaks my heart that this isn't a five star, as I wanted it to be so bad!
