Game backup is UNRELIABLE and no compensation offered for lost purchases/progress – Sailor Moon Drops Review

Recently I had to restore my phone to factory settings. Before doing so I made sure to follow the in-game instructions for generating a data transfer password to back up my game. After my phone was reset, I re-downloaded the app, went to the data transfer screen, and entered my password. Then I got an error message: “Cannot transfer data on same device.” What the heck? I play a lot of mobile games and I have NEVER heard of such a restriction before. I opened up the app anyway, and found that my game had been reset to the way it was six months ago: All my event-limited characters, gone. All my map progress, gone. All my purchases, gone. I emailed support and this was their response: “Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience; however, if you reset your device or if the application was re-installed, the game will also be initialized/reset. Thus, we are unable to provide any compensation for cases such as the one mentioned above. In addition, we apologize, but we are not planning to have the game data connected to any SNS sites like Facebook or Twitter at this moment.” In short, BUYER BEWARE. The game has a bizarre inability to back itself up on the same device, and the transfer password only works when you transfer to a different phone. This is NOT made clear on the in-game backup instructions. It’s also something I’ve never personally encountered before, as all my other games were able to restore my accounts on my reset phone with no problem whatsoever. So I’m warning you all now!!
