App won’t even open – Denon 2016 AVR Remote Review

I bought a HEOS enabled Denon receiver with two additional HEOS speakers about two months ago. Although the speakers are a bit boomy the sound great and the system was fun to use. Now the HEOS app still works fairly well but the this receiver app won’t even open. And before this started happening the app was failing to accurately control the receiver. I would turn the volume up and it would return to its original position a few seconds later. I would have to shut the app immediately so it would not return to the original volume. Now it won’t even open. I have closed and reopened the app, rebooted my phone, and redownloaded the app, all to no avail. Please fix this app! Or I will have to return the whole system.
