Extra Legendary – The Elder Scrolls: Legends CCG Review

I won't go on for ages on how I think card battle games kinda stagnated for awhile there. I can't argue this game doesn't suffer from some of that creature summoning game type atrophy that seems to be prevalent in many of these types of games. However this game is well put together, deeper and more complex than Hearthstone, and easily finds purchase with me given it's intellectual property, even if it's still a creature summoning card game like many others. You get, for free, an amazingly well written single player campaign. Every player also has access to anything and everything anyone else can have through a card crafting system similar to other digital CCG. A fully fleshed out multiplayer is obviously there too. Of course; you can buy card packs and such with in game currency and real money. You pay money for later expansions adding story mode stuff and unlocking cards automatically too. Hopefully they will keep the cost down but its just par for the course with almost every card game. I see it being worth while as paid DLC if the game is actually evolving from those expansion and aren’t just more cards for the sake of selling more cards. So, come for the tasty free single player story and stick around for some much needed deeper strategy card game that doesn't overly complicate the formula. Legends has finally started to give Blizzard a competitor but I don't think they will be able to top Hearthstone’s mass appeal and polish (even if Legends is the better game).
