I’m Wary... – Paramedic Pocket Prep Review

I was an EMT for 3 years, a paramedic for 6 years, and taught medic school for 4. I took NR in 2008, but let my license lapse when I went back to school. I am retaking NR after being out of the field for 4 years. I think this app is okay for the most part, however certain questions give me pause and I wonder how in tune the writers are with NR. For example, a question described Cushing’s Triad as “Hypertension with reactive bradycardia and decreased respiratory effort...” “DECREASED respiratory effort” is a completely inaccurate description of a Cushing’s patient. They could have used so many different words (i.e. irregular, ataxic, Biot’s, abnormal, etc.) but the use of “decreased respiratory effort” is patently false. Because much has changed since I left the field, I am left wondering if some of my wrong answers are due to my own lack of knowledge of industry updates or incorrectly written questions. Thus, I wouldn’t advise anyone to rely solely on this app for NR prep. The upside to this app: The UI is great, very easy to use and intuitive. The explanations are helpful (assuming they are correct) and I like how you can keep track of your progress. Suggestion to developers: Maybe considering adding a feature that allows users to easily report a bad question. This might allow learning opportunities for everyone involved.
