Life Changing – Simple Habit Sleep, Meditation Review

I can honestly say this app has significantly improved my life. I had wanted to meditate for years, but always the idea of starting meditating seemed so overwhelming. I decided to try this app and headspace to help. I did both apps for a few days, and then decided to purchase this one-I found this one more my style/taste. I was lucky enough this just so happened to be around New Years, so the app was on sale. Still, it was expensive... but I knew paying $60 some dollars would make me actually use the app, instead of doing it for a week and then giving up. I’ve been meditating daily for over two months because of this decision. The first couple weeks I was really enjoying meditating, but still felt like I wasn’t “getting it”. Then, one day, randomly, something just clicked for me. I don’t know how to explain it, but it was awesome. So, if you’re trying this out and struggling at first, know that that’s totally normal. Stick with it and I promise you’ll be glad you did. After it “clicked”, I started realizing the benefits meditation was having on my brain, even when I wasn’t meditating. It became a lot easier to focus on work, and not go down the rabbit hole of obsessive thoughts and worrying that I’ve always struggled with. They’re still an issue, but meditation has helped SIGNIFICANTLY. To be blunt, I am now obsessed with meditation and this app. There are a couple of things I’d like to see added to the app, but nothing major. I’m just writing them here in case the developers are reading! I’d really, really love the ability to favorite a single meditation from a series, so that I may refer back to it as needed without having to try and remember what it was called/what series it was in. The only small complaint I have about the app is the opening/closing sounds of each session. The music played before the app says, “you’re listening to simple habit, a daily vacation for your mind.” It’s pretty loud, often times significantly more so than the meditation itself. That means I have to turn my volume day and then hurriedly turn it back up when the guided portion of the meditation begins. I wish we could get rid of that portion all together. I understand it helps you transition, but maybe something like a wave crashing or something similar would be more relaxing/appropriate. All in all, I would highly recommend this app to anyone. I use it daily and I love it. I got it on sale, but even if I hadn’t, I’d say you can’t put a price on your mental health.
