Not For Me – LEGO® Life: kid-safe community Review

First off, I want to say: This app is most certainly not meant for me. Judging by the age recommendation, this is for much younger Lego fans. I can accept that. Coming from the now shut down gallery on Lego.com, I was hoping this would be a good replacement. I entered my Lego ID to create an account, so many (but strangely, not all) of my old creations from the gallery were saved on my new account. When I found a model I appreciated in the gallery, I went to comment on it and was appalled to find that there was no option to type anything unique, and that all you had to comment with was Lego stickers. Once again, looking at it from the perspective a a younger kid, this would be much better. Younger children are not going to be typing a long critique of the creation, and they will be perfect happy just posting a quick “Amazing!” sticker. But for me, the comments I received were my favorite part of the old gallery. It was great receiving a comment complimenting me on my model, and I always looked forward to that. So this for me just sort of destroys the community aspect of the old gallery and this is my biggest problem with this app. However, I must again admit that the designers of this app were not thinking of teenage Lego fans like me when this was designed. Were I 6 years old, the app would certainly be 4 or 5 stars. But to me, “Lego Life” is a big step down from the old general gallery.
