Honest review – Heroes of Dragon Age Review

Edited disclaimer 1/13/18: TLDR: be smart with your money. This is yet another EA trap- especially if you have gambling problems. I have been playing the game for a few days and here are my edited thoughts: The old review still holds true, but their gem packs are overpriced. If it costs 19 gems to unlock a hero at the base (or place I am currently at) and the lowest you can purchase gems at is $1.99 for 14, that puts you at a bit of a disadvantage. True, you can quest for more gems, but it’s slow going until your stamina raises through levels. If you want to be able to participate in events for a chance at better items/heroes and progression, EA per the usual is putting a hard lean on the player to spend more money. Spending $9.99 doesn’t even give you that many gems in comparison to the higher tiers, which of course sweeten the deal as you get higher and higher. The point of all this is, think about the value of your dollar/pound/whatever currency you use in comparison to fictitious gems that don’t really exist. EA believes that games should be treated as a service instead of giving you an option to pay once and play. While fun for a time, EA’s money grubbing hands are made apparent over what should be a fun little arcade game. Old review, a few hours into the game: Fun little pocket game. Yeah there’s EA’s usual p2w cash grab, but what else is new? You can get coins and gems if you’re patient though and I really do appreciate that fact. A lot of mobile games bully you into paying for gems and such, but you can get gems if you’re clever with your time and energy consumption. I’m sure it gets a little trickier the further you go, but that’s to be expected. If you like Dragon Age, I recommend this game. It’s fun to see familiar characters pop up for your team. Within the first 25 mins of play time, I got Dutchess Florienne and Seeker Cassandra- without spending a dime. You just have to be clever about it. Aside from the odd connectivity issues, pretty solid time-waster. Can’t give it a solid five though because of some odd glitches I got a few times, like where I leveled up and replenished my energy, but it still showed me the previous level’s energy consumption. May end up spending a bit to support the devs because it looks like they put a lot of hard work into it- especially with the art. Love the quest map especially.
