Problems – Aurora - Puzzle Adventure Review

Where to start? The puzzles are well done, most are doable with some thought, or none at all, a few are way out there. You earn lots of hints along the way, and a few bombs which are essentially “skip this level “ buttons. No timer. If the developer had just presented unadorned puzzles then this would be a five star game - but they didn’t. It has a very nice opening sequence, which you have to watch every time you open the game. And since the game hangs up after certain levels forcing you to quit and restart, you are going to see that opening sequence a lot. You pick up various things as you walk the path: keys, for upcoming gates, moons to charge up a great big honkin’ hammer. And you get the contents of chests for finishing certain levels - hints/ butterflies, bombs/ skips, costumes. But after 100 levels or so most of that stops. The moons are still there but don’t charge the hammer - she still carries it but doesn’t use it. ( And the hammer never made any sense within the game anyway. If she can stand outside the path and whack ice off one of the worlds why walk the path at all? Just cruise on down to the final gate and bash a way through. ) It’s like the devs got bored with it. They don’t even give the player a closing sequence. She opens the gate and disappears. There aren’t even any credits. All in all a very unsatisfactory experience.
