Disappointing – MiP App Review

So the robot balances and can be controlled by the app. That’s alright and works fairly well. But overall this entire robot and app falls so short and is such a disappointment. Where to start. First of all the robot cannot do anything practical. It can balance, and move around, and dance... sort of... but it doesn’t actually DO anything. It can’t play your ITunes music through its speaker, so it’s not a self driving speaker, it can’t follow you around, or have cameras on it that you can use, or carry anything reliably, it’s purely a toy like an action figure that you can happen to move with an app. This means you and your kid will be bored with it in under an hour once you exhaust the little gimmicks like dancing and “fighting” etc. also the robot can’t balance while it’s off and you cannot turn it on via the app so that makes remote operation impossible. You have to physically turn it on, help him balance yourself, and then turn the app on to control him. That means you’re always basically two feet or less away from your robot when you want to use him. This robot in no way feels autonomous. Even when he’s on free roam mode the joy quickly evaporated when you realize he’s going to make the same two or three noises over and over again every time he senses something until you go insane. It’s loud too and you cannot turn off its sound so in three minutes of free roaming either you will want to smash him or your family will. He falls enough to where you can’t really use him to transport anything. So honestly it’s a novelty toy that you’ll play with for 20 minutes and then toss into a chest and never think of again. It could be so much more, or at the very least even slightly practical or less irritating and it might have a longer shelf life but in the end you’ll be wondering why in the world you spent 80 bucks on a robot that does absolutely nothing practical.
