basically a luck game, sometimes fun – Bubble Witch 3 Saga Review

Winning based on luck of bubble sets combined with a limited set of lives? Punishing the player for losing by taking away their ability to play? Not a fun combination; the lives mechanic is probably the worst aspect of the game. The gameplay feels too luck-focused for this to work. Sometimes I can't even make it to the last stretch but other attempts I get 3 stars. It might feel like it becomes 'pay to win' with the occasional hard levels sometimes feeling impossible to beat without the special magic, but if you reserve the complementary ones, it's doable. It feels like it takes ridiculous luck to beat levels without boosts. You could be stuck on a level for weeks. I mention the interesting mechanics, but sometimes they add to the random chance of winning, like fairy bubbles and firework bubbles randomly popping surrounding ones. It's still a well taken care of game, in the end and probably the best bubble bursting app game on the store.
