Simply boring – Block.io Review

You’re basically playing bumper cars to knock players off the map. There is no sense of “overcoming” another player to gain size and score. You simply get a lucky push or use a radial blast to knock others off and progress. The map and the controls just don’t work well together. Scattered across the map are what I’ll call “bumpers” which are walls of indestructible blocks that have a slight rebound effect on contact. Along with that are the death zones, which exist on both the outer edges and on areas inside the map which creates narrow areas where it is much easier to secure a kill. This is where most players seem to congregate in order to gain points. These facts along with the unsatisfying overly tuned momentum based physics when moving combine to create what can only be describe as a mindless cluster****. Here you would expect an intense battle of high risk high reward encounters but instead, you get the sense of “everything is an accident” which takes away from the overall entertainment of defeating other players. Over all, it isn’t a bad game. People will enjoy it, perhaps for a few minuets or even hours like I did. But if you’re looking for a cohesive skill based io game that doesn’t feel like a quickly thrown together attempt at cashing in on the genre (not saying that that’s what this was), then this won’t be the game for you.
